Robert Joseph Alwine is a Miami-based trial lawyer who represents people and businesses in trials, appeals, mediations, and arbitrations at both the state and federal levels. He represents plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving general breach of contract, breach of employment contracts, breach of real estate sales and commission contracts, breach of covenants not to compete, breach of insurance contracts, shareholder or partnership rights disputes, tortious interference with business relationships, fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, and defamation.

He has represented small business owners, condominium associations, management-level employees, doctors, real estate brokers, law firms, insurance companies, hospitals, supermarket chains, directors and officers of public companies, and both public and private companies, among others.

Mr. Alwine is also a veteran of the United States Navy, Judge Advocate General's Corps (the "JAG Corps"), where he was a prosecutor and criminal defense counsel responsible for investigating and trying cases around the world. Because of his continuing admiration for his fellow service members, Mr. Alwine devotes a limited portion of his practice to defending current and former members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard in administrative discharge boards, courts-martial, non-judicial punishment, and in hearings and proceedings to upgrade discharges and correct military records.

While in the Navy JAG Corps, Mr. Alwine was awarded the American Bar Association Award for Professional Excellence, the Navy Achievement Medal (with gold star), the National Defense Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon (with bronze star), and the Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon. In law school at Vanderbilt University, Mr. Alwine was elected to the Order of the Coif, awarded the Vanderbilt Academic Excellence Award, attained Dean's List all semesters.  He was the Professional Authorities Editor and a member of the Editorial Staff on the VANDERBILT JOURNAL OF TRANSNATIONAL LAW.
